Eagle Ray of Werribee Rocks Video

Post by thebigal_au » Sat Oct 27, 2018 6:12 pm

Quick early morning fish on the Werribee South rock wall. 10 minutes in the reel started screaming and rod almost went in the water. Fought the fish for a while hoping it was going to be a big snapper but ended up being a big eagle ray. Oh well that's fishing, was still lots of fun and drew a big crowd of onlookers. ill be back for the snapper soon.

Video footage can be seen here - https://youtu.be/dzE31hlqd2U

If it had have been a snapper, it would have been broken off by the guy enthusiastically grabbing the line in the last 30 seconds of the fight!

Not a bad vid mate. I have caught them many times in the past.
One of the biggest was from a trip with a couple of mates to Philip island. Took us 3 taking turns with it. When we eventually landed it it was so big we couldn’t even move it so had to wait for the water level to rise for it to swim back to the depths. Was a great fight :)

Thankfully it wasn't too bad when we went there. I did fill up my bucket on the way out of some rubbish left on the walk way. If every spent 5 minutes doing the same it would be great for all
