Warmies visit and Massive unknown fish again.

Post by Scozziefish71 » Mon Apr 22, 2019 7:21 pm

Hi Again folks,

I have had a couple of fishless visits lately after earlier success on Bream at the Warmies.
The Bream now seem to have moved off to another area.
On my trip tonight I caught a good flathead on the main channel side of the rocks after about ten mins.
The place is swarmed with Toadies at the minute which are a bit of a nuisance.
Around five o'clock I was hit by a fish which immediately bent my 3-5kg rod double and was taking line so fast I couldn't stop it. I could feel the fish moving on the end and enormous weight. It ran for a good two mins with me trying to regain line. As soon as I caught up it screamed off again and must have taken me into rocksas I couldn't move it. Needless to say my line snapped shortly afterwards.
What the hell is down there?, That's twice in the last few weeks and the rod I was using has no chance of landing it.

Maybe next time take a heavier setup for this mystery fish mate?

Yes, I was really targeting Bream but I have encountered two massive fish now and haven't seen a glimpse of either.
I am now starting to think it's some sort of Ray as the weight is tremendous and it just stripped line from my reel so easily , even after I adjusted the tension.
Both fish on full moon and both right before the Warmies boat ramp on the opposite side.

Think you may be right as it headed off and then I couldn't budge it.

Who knows, it's so strong I have never even had a glimpse of it, just surging power and screaming reel.

I am pretty sure folk seen me fighting it on the other side tonight, my reel was making a fair noise and I did notice some folk looking over. The place was quite busy with the pump working.
