Williamstown LB 24/04/2019
Hi guys,
After reading someone else'se post on there being lots of activity and a huge something that broke him off at williamstown, I decided to go with some mates and massively overkill gear.
Using 20lb mainline and 30lb leader, i cast out my rods and set up for the night.
I got a few nibbles and kept losing my bait, so I swapped to my micro-fishing setup using tiny size 10 and size 12 hooks and immediately hooked onto a micropinky the size of my hand. The micropinkies were there for a while, but they went away at around 11pm, I had lots of fun catch and releasing them
Then, at 11:45pm, there was a huge bite on my heavy gear rod, and after a very intense fight full of headshakes, a screaming drag and some scary moments where the fish surged towards some pylons, up came a snapper, and a very good one at that. Measured 3.2kg and 67cm long. WHOOOO HOOO!!!!!
Can't believe I caught my first ever land based real snapper last night!
I went home absolutely stoked and looking forward to the anzac day lunch with the mates who caught it with me
Cheers
pics have come!

Well done mate. I’ve lost 2 snapper at gem pier side pretty much in the last week. They would’ve been similar size to yours. Williamstown is really firing right now. 8lb leader with no net was never cutting it lol

Great effort wem! It is a lot better going prepared rather than doing a 'what could the fish I lost be' thread!

:super:
Well done.
Nice one mate, I know people thought us guys were telling stories, there are some big fish in that area. My new stronger gear is on order and I am determined to add a photo of my own.wem21 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 11:04 amHi guys,
