Willy - Altona - Point Cook. 29/04/19

Post by SteveoTheTiger » Mon Apr 29, 2019 4:17 pm

Just a quick one today.

As usual (lately) we launched at Newport at around 6:45am. Conditions were slightly choppy.. about 0.5 to 1 metre.

We headed straight across to the Princes pier pylons and tried some soft plastics. Unfortunately my mates are not very accurate at casting so we quickly decided to move as they were not having much fun wrapping themselves around the pylons every 5 mins.

At first i was going to head down the coast, but changed plans due to the chop in the hope that Altona Bay would be more sheltered, which it was.

We tried various sports around the area, everywhere from behind the Williamstown oval to the Altona jetty to the marine park and various spots back across the bay. No spot was particularly successful and we finished the day with 2 small squid and 6 flathead.

I lost 2 squid jigs too.

They are definitely still around, we just didnt have any luck today.

I did get to use my new scaler bag though. I have been looking at them for a long time as i hate cleaning squid. I saw the one they have at Tackleworld for about $110 and didnt really want to pay that much. I was at Hook On Bait & Tackle yesterday and picked up a Hook 'Em 2 Ring Scaler Bag for $50. It looks just like the one at Tackleworld, cost less than half the price and it works great.
