Good effort. keep trying and it will eventually happen.
i wouldnt add swivels to bream surface lures. and wait for the fish to take the lure before putting any sort of pressure.

Nice work to get out there and give it a run. For small surface lures I would be careful with how much you change, the smaller (45mm) gomoku walkers in particular have an action that is very sensitive and small changes can really mess it up. I find they run best with a mono leader and a small loop knot with the stock or equivalent weight hook setups.

Another surface lure I would recommend that runs reasonably well with a stinger assist on the back of them is the daiwa slippery dogs. The clown, purple suji prawn and citrus herring colours are the stand outs for me.

For stinger assists look at the ecogear zx stingers or atomic trick bits in size 10, you can also tie your own and a might do a post or video on how I do this in the future.

Thanks for the tips mazman. True, the modification might affect the action too much on smaller surface lures.

I might try it on the bassday 70mm or the sammy. It looks like dacron with two small jigging hooks.

The fishing :
Second time fishing there, thought I would fish for couple of hours after work before heading home, lure only. The plan was to use plastic for an hour then surface lures when its darker. Felt few small taps (or could be just weed) with the zman slim swimz on a steady constant slow retrieve mid water. The weed was annoying. Landed one healthy 23cm bream at around 6:45 PM, the hit was 3 ft in front of me. Changed to sammy then to bassday surface lures, no hit...

Still a good effort landing the bream Seb, you will have the place nutted out in no time :thumbsup:

The place doesn't offer much, it's flat open structure-less lake. Walking on limited pavement walkway isn't exciting either. But it's 5 mins drive from my home and I can practice/try to get breams on surface lures. For now, it's worth going but I can see myself outgrow it in the future.

great report and info, there is one more landbased spot that is worth looking at and it is the jetty in front of a cafe. public access with fishing line bins. Few bream mullet and eels from there, good size breams too. If there were less seaweed, i'd fish there a lotttttt more. Its getting behond rediculous the seaweed
