Nice work mate.
How big did the flatties go?
Just how it goes huh, you take the heavier gear and you’re all prepared but the mystery monster fish does show up.
If I were you and was planning on fishing that same spot, I’d always carry and cast out the heavier gear just in case. You never know when it might show up again!
Cheers
One was around 57cm, the other around 45cm, see the photos.
There were a lot of larger fish around last night, I seen small fish jumping out of the water in the channel to escape something.
Ah very nice mate.
I don’t know why but when I initially read your report I couldn’t see any photos but they are there now. Nice catch

Was there for an hour around 5 pm, strong cold south wind. A lot of people fishing. Hooked a couta on zman grub 2.5", it cut the 10 lb fluorocarbon leader right on my feet. Those darn sharp razor teeth.

One major problem though, got snapped off 10-15 times by something that I physically couldn’t stop on my 2-4kilo rod with 8 pound line.
I have a similar post, huge unknown fish, no way could I stop it.

Try heavier gear as I am going to, at least so we can find out what the hell they are

It is more to do with your previous fishing (like Mathew's). The "long game" is more a comment on "Try heavier gear as I am going to, at least so we can find out what the hell they are" for future attempts.

Anyway, hope you do land the beast, which I coined the "Warmies Whopper" name in Mathew's post , , , , and a scoreboard for Mathew's attempts shall be put up on any future Warmies endeavours of his.

Oh sorry mate, definitely lost in translation
I think I will definitely have a few more zeros on the scoreboard before I nail a Mulloway, they are few and far between.
On the plus, my new rod could land a Marlin

Wow, well done Dan, I think I would have had a heart attack if I had hooked that thing, it's a beast. I had absolutely no idea that sharks that big were in the area.

Never heard of seven gill caught off warmies, very rare I'd say.
