Post by darrtoo » Sat May 04, 2013 9:04 pm

G'day all,

I want to take my young bloke for his 1st fishin trip tomorrow and wondering if there is anything being caught around Patto River?

Anyone got suggestions on a spot, gear, bait or lure, avoids ....?

Cheers

Welcome to the site! :) I can't help you with the location sorry. You may like to post an intro in the intro section (see link).

This may also help as some members here may be hesitant in helping new members who ask questions with their first post. No dramas anyway!
thanks

:welcome: Bream are resident in the river , trevally , bay trout , mullet & every so often Mulloway . Use a general purpose rod / reel combo around the 3 to 4kg class , with fresh peeled prawns for bait .

yeah ive fished the river up near the boat ramps quite a bit this year, atleast 10 times.... and every time i have caught a bream, mind you they were not all of legal size only some were.
Running sinker rig + prawns work by far the best.
aparently there is also large mulloway in the river at the moment near the first lock, never seen them myself though.
