Patterson river

Post by JekaHW » Sun Jun 02, 2013 4:23 pm

Went down to patto river today for a couple of hours with my son. The water was very murky and found that the dredger was at the mouth. We threw a few small metal slugs and a few HB's but to no luck. There were a few people around but didn't see anything landed.

I went last night and no action apart either, few blokes caught some salmon earlier on but later on nothing

Hopefully if the weather holds out and the dredger is done then I might go out next weekend.

Where abouts were you fishing from, did you go out near the mouth? I like to use the gillies metal too for a few salmon do you find one colour has worked better than another?

Yeah the water is way too dirty and running way too fast for anything there hopefully no heavy rain this week should fire it up again

Fished from about 50m from the bridge all the way back to the mouth. Was using 10g metal gillies in chrome and blue. Seem small chrome is the way to go, from what I have heard from others.

I was there today too, had no luck at all and tried several spots from the boat ramp all the way to the mouth where it was murky and choppy as hell. Just before sunset a bunch of lucky folk on the right-hand side of the river mouth and fishing from the sand got on to a big school of salmon that stayed about an hour in the area and some decent bream, wrong place wrong time for me though as I ended up with Krispy Kremes :(

I notices the guys over there getting stuff, from where I was standing it all looked pretty small

Didn't bother getting amongst it, not worth the tangles
