If you ever do decide to fish Cape Schanck, it would be highly advisable not to fish the long flat rock platforms on the western side of the Cape, as when the tide decides to come in the water funnels up behind the angler and then rips out seawards trying to suck any angler out with it. A friend and I have both been bowled over and nearly sucked out, and we aren't amateurs with rock fishing. I have fished the eastern side safely in good weather, but sadly the kelp can cause problems for bottom baits, bobby corking would be ideal, but I never got around to trying it. Have caught a few pike on lures. Either way, take care, and don't trust the eastern shelf, no matter how peaceful it looks.

Oops, I meant the dangerous Western shelf, not eastern shelf, refer to aerial photo for danger zones.

I hooked up on a jet popper off that ledge to the east, only on for about 15 seconds. Either a big salmon or small king. Trebles suck.
