I have been on a few subs when in docks my brother in law was on Polaris subs in the Royal Navy sooner you than me I love being on the ocean but only when it suits me, ie good weather. I bottom bash for snapper, flathead, gummies/schoolies and whatever else comes along. Normally for mako's we start at the 70 mt mark but sometimes we have come across them closer in. Last year I was about 150 mt off cape woolami catching salmon when a mako circled the boat a few times we threw a few things at him but he wasn't interested. I take it you will be at crib point hmas Cerberus first, where are the subs based I have a cousin in wa near the navel base in Cockburn sound rockingham good fishing there. Good luck with your adventure I admire all people who join the forces and serve.

yeah ill be at hmas sterling on garden island in w.a, i moved over here too vic around 10 years ago, and i can still remember catching salmon averaging around 5-6kilos off the beach haha.

ive always wanted to chase mako's my jigging rod shouldbe alright for it, its got enough line on it too play out a good sized mako, or forbottom bashing haha!
