Merricks Gummys

Post by slinga » Mon Jul 23, 2012 11:45 am

Went to Merricks last night with my good friend...

Fished from 5pm-midnight using Squid, Salmon, and eel. Pretty average night fishing wise except for a 3.5kg Gummy ( I didnt catch it  ) and a baby 7-gill which would have been all of about 2 weeks old :roflmao: .

There are still plenty of Gummys of the beaches for anyone prepared to brave the conditions.

No photo guys sorry.

My plan last was to catch some fresh squid, shoot across to merricks, didn't score any squid so didn't go.

The baby 7 gill, could have been a catshark, very common at Merricks over winter and look very similar, except they are brown with white spots.

Nice effort on the gummy :fish11:

Definately a 7 Gill Brett, was about 25cm long.

Not a big Gummy either but nice eating size :dinner: .

Might see if I can persuade my chauffeur if we can hit the beaches next week.
