Mornington

Post by bigwatkins » Wed Aug 13, 2014 9:17 pm

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone has fished morning ton recently? I'm thinking of hiring a boat on Sunday and wondering if it's worth my time. Won't be able to go to far out with the hire boats but should be able to get onto something

Cheers

Assuming it was you that asked availability for Sunday on the Facebook specials post lol

Should be able to get onto squid, salmon, flatties and probably pinkies at this time of year. Ask Paul for a heads up on what's biting.

Ive been out a few times from Mornington over the last month or two. TBH it has been hard work. You will get some flatties, and there are squid around, if you work the weed beds and there is always a chance of a school of Sambos coming through. So there are fish around but as I said before, it has been hard work. I have also heard rumours of the gars being in the area if you want to try and berley some up they are always fun/tasty.

Better than a day at home whatever the case.

Got out for 5 hours, managed about 20 flathead only 4 of size tho. Got a few banjos and star fish as well. Was a bit choppy out there but nothing to hard to manage.

Hanging for some warmer weather and the fishing to pick up

That's not a bad effort. What part of the Bay did you take the boat to.
