Hey guys.
Got the water for around 5;50am as usual the guys at mornington boat hire were more than happy to help out on where to go and what baits were working

We decided to skip the fresh squid and head straight for snapper grounds.
Got a nice burly trail going and droped my lines out the back. Had a black magic whiting patanoster rig on one rod and a snapper catcher on the other.

5min into waiting and bang! Double hook up on the whiting rig. Two tiny pinkys no bigger than my hand.
Good start.
More pilly on and bang bang bang. The rig couldnt hit the ground without being smashed by the pinkies.

Maybe an hour after small pinkys and flattys attacking my line started to peel away. Massive head shakes on the light gear and great fun.
Finally and excuse to pick up the net. After a good fight got it up to the boat and it was a nice 40cm pinky fitted straight in my oven haha.

I managed another 4 that were legal but mainly the plague of tiny pinkys kept coming back.

On the other side of the boat things were a bit quieter for my brother but after telling him to down size his massive wp sinkers he started to get the action to. Then banga bang his rod buckled ok lads this is it we are onto a big one! 5 min of fighting and heAr comes colour...... Double hook up one tiny pinky and one fat banjo hahahaha my brother the king of the banjos

Any way we headed back in after our three hours happy and had the whole day ahead. Came home cooked the snapper for breakfast and cracked a few cold ones.
Still havent got that big red but ill be back
Out soon trying

Cheers guys

well done, sounds like you had a great morning out there,
there is always next time for the big ones and with the price mornington charge it is still affordable.
the best bit about mornington boats is you choose where to fish,
thanks for the report.

What is the earliest time Mornington boat hire open in the morning ? You were out very early . Were you fishing on tide change? Nice morning out.

Daylight hrs, so it should be around 5:30am. But give them a call and check.

I thought i would ask, while we are on this topic. Why don't we need to have a boat licence, when hiring a boat from these boat hire places, but we need to have a licence, when we have our own boat. The responsibilities are the same,so who is the master of the boat.boat. I'm sure this question has come up before some where along the forum.

Because they are speed limited/governed to only do a certain speed.
