I thought it looked strange.
The top of the close in pylon is not above the jetty floor, as is the one further out.
If I'm wrong, tell me.

There are no pylons in any of the pictures. The concrete at the front of the pier is a wave screen panel.

I don't think any of the damage is structural, the integrity of the pier is fine. It's the wave screens, dislodging and damaging the timber deck, that is the issue.

what's the purpose of these? The pier structure should be on top of these. :o_0:

They are the wave screens. All pylons are underneath the pier.

OUT OF PLACE is because the waves smashed it out of place. they are hung/supported from the top of the pier and along the pier, not into the ground like pylons.
they are there to stop the water/waves from going under the pier and onto the yatchs moored inside the marina.

thanks purple. I haven't seen that pier since it reopened. Were those things installed in the full length of the pier before the big blow?
