No probs. My post also shows my inexperience with big snapper as I never caught one bigger than ~45cm. Must be an awesome feeling as knowing how the small ones fight lolpurple5ive wrote:thanks for that mate, very helpful linkefendy wrote:Great fish mate, congrats.purple5ive wrote:Cheers fellas.
I got dad to get the fish out the freezer and weigh it. He said 5.1kg. So ill go with that.
Next time maybe ill.land that 80cm fish and make it look like a meter plus
I think you should go with this calculator:
http://fishingspotx.co.nz/snapper-weight-calculator/
It says 6.23kg for 69cm
Edit: well the data is possibly based on fork length so 5kg sounds more likely.

60lb man thats crazy, and here i am wondering wether 60lb will be overkill for tuna.piscateur wrote:Lol I never target pinkies with anything under 12 lb have had larger fish show up in nursery grounds on a few occasions. But I mostly start with 20lb. and up to 60lb in structure.
ive never come across big fish when fishing pinkies yet, hence why im using 6lb, might have to upgrade leaders now after whats happend.
i could have easily landed that fish if i had some more line, i reckon that last run was pretty much all it was going to do before tiring, but i had run out of line.
i tried to get the electric and chase after it but for the life of me couldnt find the button on the remote to get it going while playing the fish.
