Friday 16/3/18

Post by Yota » Sat Mar 17, 2018 10:58 am

First time for me down that end of the bay.
Launched at Mornington at a leisurely 11:30am. Bit of a hike from Crazyburn :-D
Beautiful day on the water.
Headed straight out to Pinnace Channel area.
Found the sand banks on the way and christened the paint off the lower skeg ha ha. It looks like a real fishos boat now ha ha.
Straight up were plenty of small Baracoota about 12"/30cm long, great bait.
Caught a few nice flattys and plenty of banjos.
Got the rod well and truly buckled 3 or 4 times and the leader was bitten off - I'm guessing schoolies were around ? I'm already armed with some wire trace for next time.
I saw a few charters around the bottom end of the Pinnace Chanel, I would have liked to be there but I hate crowds.
Headed back to Fishermans beach area and picked up 5 calamari on our way home.
Great day but when I got back to the boat ramp every space in the ramp car park was filled with single cars
Then the long drive home.
We had a great day ( the missus and I ) beautiful area especially on the water.

Cheers
Jamie
