Yamashita egi oh q squid jigs

Hi guys,
Has anyone had any success on the yamashita egi oh q live search squid jigs? If so what colours? I've just found a site that has them on sale and im hoping to get a few. Also, does the rattle actually attract squid?

hey mate, ive had some good success on the red one but usually it just brings the squid close then they dont want to hit it. Cheers Matari

As long as they float down (sink slowly) at 45 degrees and don't spin then they should catch squid no matter what brand they are. The foil colour makes a difference on the day/time of day as does the size of the jig; size 3, 3.5 and 4 in foil colours red, gold and silver will cover most sessions pretty well. All of those factors having been met then the quality of the jig determines how long it will last and the price of the jig is often a good determinant of the quality. The Japanese brands are often good quality and priced accordingly however one of the most successful jigs I've ever used was $1.50 from Rays tent city (Mojiko brand, whiting colours in size 3.5) but they would only last a session or 3 before falling apart. My 2 cents.

NAEBA is Yamashitas best colour in my experience

Yamashita RDRA, NAEBA or the old IBA all very good squid jigs.

got some Yamashitas with rattles others without. Seems to make no difference except a couple of extra dollars.

Best colour seems to be whatever is in front of their nose when they feel like chewing on something

Caught them with a lot different colours including pink, orange and white.
