Re: Quick mornington pier report
Might as well bump this up rather than make a new one.
Fished the pier cause deckys were all busy yesterday.
2 squid this one being the biggest. Same rui jig as last time
About 4 or 5 were caught all up that i seen. Was really flat out on the bay until about 4.30ish when it started to blow up..
Something half decent was hauled up the pier at the end but i couldnt see what it was due to many people crowding around.. also few salmon and couta were caught.

Re: Quick mornington pier report
Thanks. I would have loved to target some of the biggger models near portsea on a boat but couldnt get a decky on time. So landbased it was. ..

Nice squid I like the colour coded rod and reel. The water looks flat there the north easterly wind yesterday by the time it got to portarlington there were white caps

Re: Quick mornington pier report
yeah i got the base model emeraldas reel recently to match the base model emeraldas rod i have, the higher end model reel comes with the traditional emeraldas multicolour/chamelion type paintwork (which matches the higher end rods)Nude up wrote:Nice squid I like the colour coded rod and reel. the wind was pretty bad after 4.30 but i can only imagine the other end of town where you guys are.
at 2pm the water was flat thats when i took that 2nd pic. even with the heavy wind though there were quite a few boats out and the water was only slightly rippled, not choppy, so smaller boats were all fine, even kayaks were out.. im guessing an easterly wind is perfectly fine to fish mornington and associated areas along the coast in reasonably heavy wind days. must do some more investigating to confirm that
