It's in the technique, I think. You can bounce a jig along the bottom in the same way you'd work a soft plastic. No need for a sinker.

Anyone caught anything over the Geelong/Queenscliff side of the bay?

You dont want the squid jig to hit the bottom cos it will snag and you mite loose it.
The idea is to cast wait 5 seconds to sink, jig / jerk 2 to 3 times, wind, let sink till its almost near the bottom and repeat.
The squid will see it and come from the bottom and follow and attack if it wants

Was out today from 8-10. Hit RAF, campbell cove 4-5 m. Nothing. Water was super clear though. Maybe I should have gone deeper or further out.

Interesting. I was seeing bottom at 2-3 m. Did not think there would be squid so shallow so had no faith. Will take your advice on try 2.5-3.5 next time.

Went to Clifton Springs yesterday. Water was clean up to about 4m then went very dirty. Fished the usual patch in 5-6m and only got 3 big ones in about 5 hours. Very quiet. Others fishing for whiting around me got nothing (squid or whiting).

Went out off Werribee yesterday morning between the ramp and Campbells cove in about 3.5m and struggled. Only managed 2 small models. Not sure what the issue was (Not deep enough, jig size/color) Just good to get a decent day and be back out on the water.
