Im looking to get some jigs, and the rui jigs in portsea red look pretty good. Have any of you tried these?
Also are there any consistent squidding spots in ppb around the brighton area?

Re: How hard do squid fight?
Good luck. As mentioned they can fight pretty hard once. Solid size. 1.5kg and upwards. It’s great fun on light gear
My favourite jig is shimano Sephia 14t all white, really
Good in western port

Is there anywhere I can get the 14t under 15$?
20$ for a jig is a total scam

Try the piers around San Remo, try the reefs around Black Rock on a high tide at night (Heard a rumour there are Kingfish appearing around there as well)....go to Southern Sportsfishing in Black Rock for cheap Shimano Jigs and tips where to go & what to buy (light colours for day, dark colours for night generally speaking)MasterBaiter24 wrote:Is there anywhere I can get the 14t under 15$?

Re: How hard do squid fight?
the smaller squid do jacksh!t.
the bigger models as already mentioned, will take drag. but its not like a fish they just feel very heavy and only go in one direction. it certainly got me by suprise the first time i got a big one.
but dont expect it to fight like a snapper if thats what your looking for

Re: How hard do squid fight?
$20 well spent for me mate. Might be a little bit much but in my opinion and probably a lot of others, its worth it. Only jig i use in full confidence and it catches me calamari every time. WesternPort it always works especially well with bigger ones. Last i looked tackleworld and compleat angler had a sale on them.MasterBaiter24 wrote:Is there anywhere I can get the 14t under 15$?
