Has anyone had success in replacing the rusted barbs on their squid jigs?
I have a few with rusted barbs and would like to replace the barbs.

Re: Squid jig Barbs
ive seen the barbs dipped in vinegar (how long im not sure, id say atleast overnight for a start) and have the rust wiped off with a towel.
maybe even try a rust converter.
i would only resort to this sorta stuff if the jig is unavailable anymore..

Re: Squid jig Barbs
Good question.
I spray rusty stuff with WD40 to remove the rusts, for scissors and pliers. Sometimes hooks and then sharpen them.
Not sure about squid jig hook replacement.

Re: Squid jig Barbs
I have seen crowns sold separately. No idea what's involved in actually changing them over. As above I'd suggest trying to condition the current crown rather than replay from the get go.

Re: Squid jig Barbs
Dunno if it will work, but dip it in coca cola for a couple hours and use aluminum foil to rub it
Works with stainless exhaust pipes

Re: Squid jig Barbs
To replace barbs - allow the barbs to soak in boiling water for a few minutes (not the whole jig) they will simply pull out as the heat breaks down the glue. Using a pair of pliers twist the barbs out. Inserting the new ones is as simple as filling the hole with resin or 2 part acryllic and push the barbs in cleaning off any excess when in.
