I have a desire to catch a squid at Mornington Pier. I have two squid Jigs, but they're not working. What bait will they take?

You can chuck a whiting on a squid spike and just leave it in the water until a squid comes and takes it. Mornington I find sucks for squid, try out flinders instead, much better sized squid, more squid, and there's usually only a bloke or two there instead of Stalin's army at mornington

Morno gets a tonne of divers, get onto YouTube and watch the dive videos and see what small bait fishes are in their videos. Use whatever they are on a spike under a float. For ultimate bait rig one live under a float with a spare set of squid jig barbs just pinned in its backside.

It'll likely be Whiting both king George and grass, yakkas, salmon, Tommy rough. Squid are very quick to attack when hunting, a fast fish is no problem for them

A whole silver whiting on a squid spike under a float has worked well for me
