Yep those Ruis are great and work very well!
The last couple of trips I’ve been out I used the white one and had no problem catching them :)

Looking at the area more closely (thanks Nudie for the location) it looks like the water is a bit discoloured around there, presumably because it's the mouth of a river. Down here at least that wouldn't usually be considered good for squidding but who knows what weird Queensland squid are into.

Looking a bit further afield I saw this spot which would be the first place I'd try if I had to catch squid in the immediate area (keep in mind I know nothing about Queensland squid, or anything about the area apart from what I can see on the satellite image).

You can see the coastline is rocky, which extends into the water to form a reef which you can see in the shallows. Down here at least squid are more likely to be associated with that kind of bottom than an estuary.

If you can find a Rovex specialist spin 2-5kg I really rate those for this kind of fishing (looks like dinga has them: https://www.dinga.com.au/rovex-7-0-2-pi ... 17578.html). I don't think they're in production any more but I'm sure that blank will turn up as some other Jarvis Walker brand.

Grab yourself some Rui jigs (he's on ebay), probably the best value jigs out there.
Lol'd at the weird Queensland squid line

I'm not sure if they are similar, but I've watched plenty of videos from WA and the squid there tend to hang out on more reef areas than grassy areas like our squid in Vic
