Ok - bored with the complete and utter lack of reports during silly season so thought I better contribute.
Couldn’t be bothered with the crowds today so decided to go down south PPB for a bait run and early season snoop at the RIP
Launched at Sorrento near dawn and worked hard for two squid nearby on the flood.
Moved a bit further down for two more from 3 drifts.
With a few livies on board went down to the RIP for a very early season exploration. Timed to meet the +/- slack.
Despite even Lonsdale Bight being as clear as I’ve seen it the RIP was a bit green. Water temp was also at least 2 deg down compared to just inside the bay. Had a good look around - very quite (Despite the excitement of a classic RIP screaming drag snag.....)
As the ebb started to get uncomfortable, moved into Lonsdale Bight for some drifts. Water clear as. On the second drift found a patch and worked it for 5 more squid - two crackers.
Snuck into the Marina for coffee and then up to the Mussel farm.
Hit by a plague of undersized flatty (one keeper) and one Ting (at 26M!).
Moved to the Pinace and very soon the heavy tackle goes off!! Screaming run -zzzzzzzzzzz - love that sound. Thump thump thump then races towards us up current. Big gummy.....?
It soon became very evident what it was but we had to see what it was to be sure....20 min later one
Fishing report 11/11
