Hi Guys,
Will be down the end of the Peninsula tomorrow and was going to do some surf fishing at Gunnas but with the wind looking WSW and strong I think I might stick to the piers on PPB. With the wind blowing a westerly I have seen salmon caught off Frankston, Mordialloc etc and was just wondering if Rye or piers down there would be good for the same there, and if anyone has had success what areas off the piers have produced. Ill try some lures also and its just hit and miss I suppose, but any tips appreciated.

Well, that appears to be a post just to get the numbers up

To the poster, you will catch plenty of Salmon off rye pier as well as squid, I would imagine Rosebud ans Sorrento would be the same this time of year

Plenty of squid at rye pier at the moment. Just be sure not to catch 1 though because as soon as you do everyone on the pier will cast to where u caught it.

Its a busy pier day and night. I prefer dromana or rosebud. Not as many fish but not as many people to give you the *****.

I seen some kids catching bay trout at tootgarook boat ramp last week on little metal slugs

Thanks for replies. Went off rye today in arvo and cast straight out off end. Caught 3 banjos and smallest flatties ever. Tried for squid off the inside and then down the sides. Nothing. Pier began to get busy as high tide hit about 5pm. Had to go. Plenty of ink marks so must be good at night with the high tide.

It’s definitely a great pier for squid mate.
Better luck next time.
