Holidays
Hi all
I have finally decided to put in a big report, after all my **** posting with small reports and all that. This holidays I have been fishing quite a bit. On the first weekend I went to yarrambat to hopefully get some of the stocked trout that were put in there. we started up on the wall which is my go to spot. We fished there for a few hours no luck. Then we moved up to the casting pool. We had power bait, corn and worms in with about 6 rods in between us we didn’t get a touch until we started to pack up, then they started to pick up. We didn’t get any until the last minute. When the rod ripped off, luckily my mate was there to catch my rod. I let him reel it in and it ended up being a nice little carp, we got a photo in and then the photo went flat as soon as I took it. Unfortunately I’m not aloud to have it tho because he didn’t like it so no pics of that unfortunately.
On the 29/9/18 was my birthday. I got a beautiful new rod and reel for squid, a ns Blackwater egi rod and a Daiwa Caldia lt 3000. We went out to the Mornington Peninsula and tried for some squid. We started off at Mornington and it was very windy, hooked one squid and lost it, only a small one tho. Then we went to rye, as soon as we got there a guy pulled up a big squid so we thought we were going to be in for a good day, I fished inside the pier as the wind was going that way, I managed a little flathead on squid at the end, didn’t even know he was on so he was hooked deep, wee got the hook out fairly easy as he was so small. 10 minutes after that we got a average squid, then the rain came, but we sat on the lower deck near the pier and stayed dry which was good as. Then we went to Blairgowrie and saw a few get caught, no luck there but a guy was nice enough to give us his squid as he only had one which I really appreciated. I went back again with my grand ma and managed 2 squid with my little cousin. Went straight to Blairgowrie as I got told the squid were going off there, got there and only one was pulled up all day. I kept on persisting and as it was getting dark they started bitting. I only got one while They were there but good size. Then once it got dark I moved up to the light at the start of the lower landing, I saw about 20 squid in the light. Flicked my jig in there and no interest changed my jig up a bunch and only managed 1. Hate it when you can see them...
Went back yesterday and the water was extremely clear no squid were around but could see the wrasse and sweep down there. Chucked a weightless bit of squid down there and watched them come out and smash it, was good fun. Managed a big one and fought really hard put me under the pier and around pylons, have no idea how I got them out. Then I noticed a huge school of mullet cruising around, somehow I managed the smallest one. Then the squid came out. Exactly the same as the other day. Cheers

Good on ya mate for giving it a real hard crack, I've been long overdue for a squid fix. Great report and thanks for sharing with us.
