non-stop action
Spent 90 minutes on a southern pier this morning with a few banana prawns and a handful of squid jigs. Conditions weren't ideal - it was a little windy and choppy, I had missed the high tide and it was already daylight when I started so I didn't expect much. As soon as my baits hit the water I started getting smashed by micro pinkies around 20cm. It took a while before I could even get my squid rod set up, the pinkies were so thick and fast.
When I got my squid rod into action they were hitting my jigs quite steadily, no big squid but plenty of small ones. Ended up with a nice breakfast of 6 squid and a goatfish. I threw back about 12 little pinkies, a 30cm stingray, the biggest toadfish I have ever seen and a big banjo which tested my whiting rod to it's limits before busting the leader at my feet.
I could have stayed and bagged out on squid fairly easily, but the place was filling with summer tourists.
One observation I made is that when I switched baits from Coles prawns to fresh squid tentacles, the micro pinkies lost interest immediately, but that's when I started hooking the other species. I thought snapper would prefer fresh squid but clearly not.

Re: non-stop action
I have photos I wanted to include but can't seem to post them, I keep getting a notice saying the file is too large.

Nice.
Yee, you need to drop the size of your photos. If you got them in your phone, you can install an app to reduce the photo size.

Re: non-stop action
Thanks mate... the goatfish tasted amazing, although I hacked the fillets off like a one-handed blind man and lost a lot of the meat.... will be baking the next one whole.
