Waratah bay land based

Post by Kosta7 » Wed Aug 09, 2017 6:21 am

Hi all,

Will be heading to Waratah bay this weekend. Thinking to fish Walkerville, Waratah, Sandy point and Shallow inlet. Any advice as I haven't been there before? Will be staying at the caravan park. Will be targeting salmon, gummies, flatheads and anything else that might be around.

Cheers

It is a lovely spot and there should be salmon around on the ocean beach.

Shallow inlet is good for KGW at this time of year.

Hey Frozen pond,

I'm heading up to Yanakie for the long weekend in September, looking to head out in the boat in Corner inlet and shallow inlet. Do you have any recommendations to what is better? We won't be chasing anything specific but wouldn't mind getting into some whiting & gummy sharks. Any recommendations on locations bait etc would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

I am guessing there will be some salmon around the inlet and will be good to use some lures. I will try some plastics for flatties/salmon.

Not sure about the inlet but apparently I ve read gummies are around the bay during high tide. Not sure what's happening at the inlet during high tide.

There should be plenty of salmon in the inlet. Best time is low tide and walk down casting lures into the chanel.
I normally just troll this stretch of beach alot of the time with in casting distance of the bank.

Cape Liptrap, Bear gully
Ocean, not in the bay
Can get a bit breezey (a breeze to them is a hurricane to us).

Good luck
