Welshpool Saturday 14th

Post by Mjacc » Thu Dec 14, 2017 8:43 am

Planning on heading out to Welshpool on Saturday. Will arrive Friday night and head out early morning.
Just curious as to any reports people have heard coming out of there recently.

Was last over there 2 weeks ago and managed about 50 flatties between 3 of us, but it was tough going and not much else about.

If anyone else is heading out happy to exchange info on the day n hopefully get onto some decent fish

Will report back next week with how we get on

Myself and 2 mates headed out Friday night at 10:30pm in the dark and were up the franklin in no time at all. It was as flat as it gets, easily able to do 33knots in the boat. Started fishing on the slack tide after sounding a few fish, but they didn't play ball. Ended up with a few flatties (largest 64cm) and small gummies that all went back.
After minimal sleep and day break coming, we moved to the entrance but couldn't sound anything so headed for bouy 2. We ended up with some decent flatties, 1 gummy decent table sized gummy and a small hammerhead which my mate somehow managed to hook by the tail with his top hook after it bit through the bottom hook. (at least we got the sinker back )
All in all a good day, we didn't smash it but ended up with a couple of sharks and about 40 flatties, cant be unhappy with that. The wind got up in the arvo a bit but we were at the ramp by 2:10pm.
Off to Mallacoota next week.... cant wait. :water:
