Love your work :thumbsup:nevsfishing wrote:Hi All,
I am the Site Engineer at the Long Jetty. I will start at the beginning.
- The pier is purely recreational fishing and tourism. No rec or pro boats will use the jetty.
- I am not sure about the Marina, if it is to happen it will be a long way off. Locals aren't keen.
- The total length of the jetty is 780 m including a 9 m x 18 m ' head '
- As for the winch shed, the original roof frame and walls have been reused and the outside, re cladded in colourbond. There are plans for the inside but i cannot say at this stage(tourism related). I can say it is a great place to get out of the rain and wind though.
- Jetty will be open to the public for Christmas
- Piles are Turpentine, yellow and red ones are steel
- The original Esso extension of the jetty has been removed yes, and majority of the piles 2m below low tide remain as it serves as habitat for fish life etc, there are 7 yellow 'special mark' piles that mark this as well as 2 red channel markers (that replace the 2 that were on the jetty)
- other comments i have is that there will be 2 fish cleaning tables out there with fresh water supply, 15 or so rod holder bait board combos that will mount to the top of the handrail, drinking fountain next to the shed as well as a small car park on the western side of the jetty
Happy to answer any questions fellas.

Great post! thanks for sharing.. I'm hoping this pier will become Victoria's own Urangan pier!nevsfishing wrote:Hi All,

Re: Long Jetty- Port Welshpool
I'm heading down there in January with my family. Been looking forward to this opening for ages.
Booked accommodation a while ago and wasn't sure it would be open by January.
Congratulations to all involved!

Hi mate. Thanks for info regarding the long jetty. Will it be open for sure in January? Should be a great LB spot for fishing.
Cheers

Pistol,
Feb is Kingfish time, saw many swimming around the construction barge during piling and panel placement. They took lures, however we were in a boat and still never landed any
Squid are going off there still, low tide, won’t be hard to get a feed !

Re: Long Jetty- Port Welshpool
Thanks for the heads up ! many on here have been waiting a long time for this day, the prospect of a kingy alone is worth the drive, let alone squid and whiting, I'm sure this will be the premier pier in Victoria, congrats to all who made this possible !nevsfishing wrote:Pistol,
