If you have a boat or yak, go to the flagstaff jetty opposite bullock island. Take your beach fishing gear and fish next to the entrance on the ocean beach. Slack water is best. There has been consistent salmon fishing there for the last few months.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
