Side the trawler was is the western side. Access via Drew jetty. Cross the entrance channel and it is the first jetty. Has a sign on it. Old derelict house there
so no landbased access?
No boat only. But there is a water taxi
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

I was. There isn't a gutter on the western side at the moment.
Fish were in the channel yesterday, but you will only find them there at slack water. Gutter along the beach to the east has fish in it for many hours some days. I usually head there at slack water after the ebb. Then just hang about till they turn up. Look for a dark patch in the water. If the fish are jumping means they are getting hunted. If you want little salmon for live bait use a 4inch soft plastic. If you want a big one used metal lure with a decent size triple or hard body lure. Kingies have both been on hard body with triples on it. Same for big salmon.
Easily fished land based. Either long walk, boat or water taxi.
