port welshpool long jetty

Gday all
was thinking of venturing down there one day this week with my son for a fish but not sure of what rods to take and does it matter if the tide is out or in considering the length of the pier? any tips much appreciated. Not reallt sure what fish are abt either but not fussed anyway.

When the tide is out, only the last third of the jetty will have any water underneath.... and its a fair drop too, probably between 4-5 mtrs. Depending on the amount of water coming in on the day it should rise about 2 - 2.5 mtr.

As for the rod, well that will depend what you’re willing to rig for and catch. Some folk just go for squid n whiting in which case you will be fine with a standard squidgy.

But if you’re going to chase something bigger youll need to work out how to haul it up 4mtrs vertical.

Great spot though if the winds not blowing. If you’re lucky you can nab one of the sheltered huts out on the end.

thanks was thinking of going there Monday but will check conditions first as its abit of a drive from lang lang

Heard few reports of people catching squid there, good size too.
