Fishing orbost advice
On the 29th we are heading to Orbost and I think we’ll leave their at about the 5th so one week in total I’m hoping to catch some flathead and salmon but I’ll take anything any advice?
Re: Fishing orbost advice
Motts Beach is a pretty good place to walk the shallows for flathead - or just off the beach at the "front" at Marlo (just east of the jetty).

In the Snowy River just upstream from Marlo back towards Orbost anywhere on the big horseshoe bend in the picture is excellent for Big bream in the evenings on frozen prawns.

Or fish the freshwater further upstream for bass/trout.

Re: Fishing orbost advice
The jetty is excellent - better if you bring some live prawns, but plenty of big bream, mullet and perch hang out around the pylons at the turn of the tide, and flathead directly out in front.

Thanks how would I catch the prawns and then keep them alive and what’s the trick to the flatties as that’s what I’m hoping to get the most

Paternoster rig
Blue or white bait. They are scavengers & cannibals.
All flathead east of lake tyers are classed as "dusky flathead"
So know the slot limits (30 - 50cm)

Salmon at the entrance around the change of tide. Also often lots of large Taylor between the jetty and the entrance.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
