Re: Euro carp in Fyans
Checked roach on net as well, different dorsal shape, couldn't hold dorsal up for the photo, but it started high at the front and sloped down towards the back in a straight line, from the images I had the roach tapered down a bit then came up again before tapering down to the tail. From memory, goldfish don't have the spike at the front of the dorsal, I hope that I'm wrong but in my eyes, the serrated spike on the leading edge of the dorsal is the part that indicates euro carp.
My hobbies are fishing and golf, I guess I just like frustration..

Re: Euro carp in Fyans
I guess the lesson here for me and maybe for others in the future, is the fact that I should have frozen the fish and delivered it to a DEPI office for thorough identification. It would be easier for the relevant authorities to act when there is little doubt as to what the problem is. Also, I have never heard of carp being angled there, so fingers crossed that it's maybe a misidentified goldfish and if there are any others in there, they are being digested by that 4lb Redfin that I'm going to catch next weekend....

It isn't a tench - Gold/crucian cross is where my money is too; although I wouldn't rule out a bit of roach in there too - red fins.
There is no such thing as a stupid question, only a stupid answer.
