Toolondo
I promised to report on our weekend at Toolondo so here we go.
Nine fishos went across, some from Wednesday and others from Friday. Weather was ordinary and very cold as expected.
A total of 12 Browns were landed with most around 55cms and one at 60.5 cms. Weights were pretty much about 2.5 kegs. All fish were in superb condition. It was hard work with 5 or 6 on surface lures,a few on Muddies and surprisingly there were three on fly which was special under the conditions. Previous advice that Mudeyes weren't,t working proved to be correct, some of us fished them for three days without a touch, again not great conditions for bubble floating.
As the last stockings in this water were in 2013 there are no small fish in Toolondo. The level is at 20p/c at present and unless heavy rainfall is experienced over rest of winter and spring there could be serious problems with a hot summer as inflows from Rocklands (as paid for by the govt.last time ) are unlikely.
I understand that fresh stockings of Browns and Rainbows are imminent but of course these will need time to mature.
Let,s all hope that this major trout fishery can hang in again, the big ones there are sensational.
Hope that is of some assistance for any contemplating a trip.

To find a fish
You do the miles.
Catch the fish
and earn the smiles.
Lord, allow me to catch a fish, so large that even I,when speaking of it afterwards.........May have no need to lie !!!

Re: Toolondo
Yes Boony, the place doesn't,t really lend itself to land base. There are some banks but access is difficult

Re: Toolondo
Jim, One of the boys had a great session at Bemm River on Bream with Bent Minnows in the shallows .
He has been keen to try on lake trout ever since and it worked, when a lot of other things didn't.
