Day of firsts

Went for a fish on lake Wendouree and have never had a better day fishing there.
Caught my first ever brown trout and even though it was small the size didn't matter.
My next first was a 41cm reddie, l have caught reddies before but nothing over 40cm.
My next first was 8 rainbow trout all over 40cm except one which was 35cm.
Overall it was the best day of freshwater fishing l have had with 15 fish caught and as Davo says
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them
For the day l took home 2 reddies which l reckon are great to eat.

Great catch and report.

What did you catch them on?

Great work - hopefully that phenomenonal session doesn't ruin your luck with the law of averages for any follow up ones!

Never fished there, but read a lot of reports indicating the hardest part is finding the fish (can be true for everywhere) - did you do a lot of walking?

And...

yeah your right Hornet about having such productive days in fresh water l have never come close to that.
l was just using a mudeye under a float.
in the past though l had the mudeye suspended about 1m under the surface and that was good if the fish were rising but l was talking to a bloke and he said to have the mudeye around 1.8m deep and that has made all the difference.

No walking involved happyfriggincamper l use a tinnie which makes life easier and on wendouree, with a tinnie or kayak you can get out into the rowing lanes where the the water is the deepest.
l have caught them in other parts of the lake but the rowing lanes seems to be best for me.
l was using mudeyes for all 15 caught but have caught them in the past on hard bodies.
l will have to wait and see if my luck continues, but for now l am pretty happy.

Top day's fishing.

You owe the old bloke a beer for the mudeye tip!

Your right about that,l did offer to give him a few mudeyes because he had run out but he said he was from Werribee and didn't know when he would be back and with the price some places charge for them l reckon he should've taken some anyway.
lt just goes to show how being friendly to someone can pay dividends as l didn't know this bloke we were justing leaving the boat ramp at the same time.
