Is anyone having any success at the moment at any of the lakes in the Daylesford/ Ballarat/ Creswick regions?
I've bait fished Newlyn several times or more in recent weeks for not a single bite & with a lack of seeing any fish activity. I fish it a lot because of being able to park close to the shoreline due to walking difficulties,
I've tried numerous baits & presented them in various ways & have tried flicking a few lures about as well & its been in sunny glorious weather to getting drenched in soaking rain like last Wednesday afternoon right up to dusk.
Newlyn is at capacity with flow over the wall & with good water clarity.
So please are there any tips from anyone that might be enjoying any success there?
Cheers :)

Fished it last Sat with bait and lures and the only fish I got at Newlyns was the one I cast to right on dark after seeing it chasing reddies in the shallows. Next month as the weather warms and more insects/yabbies etc become more active the trout will begin to move around more freely close to shore. They mainly come into the shallows during dawn/dusk/night time when the water is this clear. Most of the time they are outside casting range. Probably why not too many bait fishos fish Newlyns because it's such a shallow lake and the trout are extremely wary.

I fished wendouree this morning from before first light to 9am trolling lures (tassies, bibbed and sp) did 5 laps of the rowing lanes (10km) for not a touch. Also soaked worms under a float for no interest on the weed edge. Was a nice morning though

fished wombat dam on Monday for 3 hrs - 2 small reddies on power bait - 1 very large brown followed lure ( soft plastic / gold coloured) but would not take it / near dam wall - some others nearby had similar results , great spot for throwing a line in
