WOMBAT DAM

Post by gordo65 » Sat Feb 03, 2018 11:16 am

had a flick around upper coliban res yesterday morning - lots of reddies around , wind was very annoying- moved onto Wombat Dam lunchtime onwards - what a pleasant surrounds - fished down the back away from the dam wall to get away from the wind - some nice sized browns spotted coming in to the shallow water - unable to lure them with different spinners - changed to a soft 3D plastic lure (minnow) and 2 within the next hour - well worth the hiding and casting from behind bushes / reeds

Wombat Creek Dam? I was at the Upper Coliban yesterday, the fishing picked up once the wind died back after 6PM.

I haven’t fished wombat in 15 years. I fished there once when it snowed do you still need to get a permit from the water company

I've fished Jubilee but never even heard of Wombat. Where is it, Exactly? I can't find anything titles Wombat Reservoir on the map. I see Wombat Creek Dam. is that it?

Wombat is now closed and you can only fish with a permit.
You still can fish there with a permit but cannot camp, swim or do anything but fish off the bank.

Can anyone get this permit? Or it needs special requirements etc?

Wombat Creek Reservoir, built in 1964, is one of Victoria's best-kept freshwater fishing secrets. ... Anglers will require a permit from Central Highlands Water to fish the reservoir. These can be obtained free of charge by phoning (03) 5320 3100.
