Lake Bellfield-report

Post by M9085 » Tue Mar 13, 2018 3:00 pm

Went to Grampians over the long weekend.
Haven't fished there for about 12 years. Was tossing between Wartook, Bellfield and Fyans.
Settled on Bellfield as I was time poor. Fished from first light 6.45-9on Saturday for two Reddies around 28cms.
Went back on Sunday managed 6 more the biggest went 33 cms and couple of smaller ones were returned. Only one of the ten was cought on lure, rest went for a yabby suspended under the float. Gee they taste good... almost forgotten the taste it's been a LOOOONg time...
I fished on Sunday for couple of hours as well.

You gotta love bellfield for the reddies. Do you reckon there are any trout or salmon left from previous stockings?

With the amount of trout that are stocked in the lake i'd say its more than likely that there are still trout in there. They probably aren't as active because of the warmer weather and are now diving down deeper.

Good eating the reddies. :-D Remember as a kid they were almost looked upon like Carp and turfed on the bank when caught. My Dad used to curse them, he was a die hard trout fisherman. Wasn't till I was old enough to fish myself that I tried one and thought "these taste awesome, everyones nuts!" :-D
