Lake Purrumbete report 6-10-18

Post by Sinsemilla » Mon Oct 08, 2018 3:29 pm

Spent Saturday on the lake from first light. We cast lures at the weed beds until the fog cleared which got me my first and only brown.

The rest of the day was spent flat lining and down rigging for zero so we finished the day off drifting over schools of Redfin with plastics with me landing 3 tiny fish.

Everyone we spoke to said the same thing. It's been very slow fishing there of late.

A beautiful day spent on a beautiful lake but i wont be hurrying back anytime soon.. Fishing a big pond isn't really the type of fishing i enjoy. It was good to see the lake and spend the day there but i think I'm used to bigger areas with more water to prospect in which makes it more of an adventure.

Cheers, Anth

It's been fishing quite slow of late, but the big buggers are there! Water temp was 11 degrees when I was there a fortnight ago. What was it on the weekend? Is it 13+ yet?

Thanks mate. Still 2-4 degrees away. Next month it will start to fire I reckon. Although they're trout (cold water fish) and this will sound silly to most, the water temp is still too low. Bite windows are very small, with very little interest outside of those bite windows. I fished from the surface to 90ft down, and they simply weren't feeding that week. Did you get many followers on the downriggers? What depths did you try?

No follows. We trolled in 60ft to 100ft with the rigger at 40ft to 60ft.
