Headed to Mildura

Post by ChrisD » Mon Sep 18, 2017 1:56 pm

Looking likely I will find myself in Mildura for a couple of days end of the week - and luckily I will get a few hours each day to wet a line.
Not having had much luck the last two trips there, previous years - decide to just target carp and see if I can break the 70cm mark. Should present some fun.
Unless anyone has any tips for up there on how to get on to anything else with limited local knowledge?

Thanks BM - might be worth a crack - I have never actually caught a Yellow Belly, it is on my to be done list.
Will have check out round Mildura township and see where the local tackle/bait shop is up there. You would assume there is one in town somewhere.

Hey there Chris,
Lock Island at Lock 11 is worth looking at. When the Yellas are about flicking lures on the side of the weir is worth a go. Just dont fish within the no fishing area near the weir as they use to police it heavily.

I'm heading up there too next week (Sat to Thurs) with the darl and the kids. I'm hoping to wet a line too....we are staying near Kings Billabong..but I'll give Lock Island a bit of a go. Tight lines Chris..!!!

Well after two afternoons's/evening fishing in Mildure - no yellow belly :( but plenty of carp.
Unfortunately I didn't crack the 70cm mark, that still eludes me.
However the carp that were caught were caught on 6lb line and made for alot of fun.

...I managed to wet a line at Kings Billabong for about an hour and a half...got one carp about 30cm. Bloody bull ants were driving me crazy, so packed up and went and had a cold beer.
