Goulburn Browns and a Happy Puppy

Post by smokin_reels » Thu Oct 26, 2017 9:41 am

My Partner and I headed up to Jamieson on the weekend, with puppy in tow.

Marlin is a 7 month old Border Collie X Lab Mix and likes the water a fair bit. ( Would have been a shame if he didnt with a name like that)

I did a couple of quick morning sessions as it was mainly supposed to be a "non-fishing" relaxed weekend away , not quite sure what that means

Caught about 6 browns in total , nothing exceptionally large. Regretted not having a pair of waders with me.
Lure that worked the best was the Daiwa Double Clutch SP60 (Yamame?)
Shoutout to Broomstick :notworthy:
He has helped me heaps with Lure recommendations. I'm new to the ultralight lure game.
Enjoy!
I love fishing with my dog. I dont take him on every trip, but take him along when I can and know there wont be other anglers around and he can swim safely.

Marlin's Buddy Bruce, swung by to play for a day. Bruce isnt sold on the water+dog = Fun, equation

The Fish were in Stellar condition though, might need to get back up there with some friends and do a camp out when it is warmer.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish

Good on you mate! The ultralight lure game can get addictive and is so much fun

Just watch out around that area when you take your dog out in the warmer weather. plenty of snakes out

Great report mate, Marlin is bloody cute! I reckon he'd get along with Luna and Lando swimmingly. I don't know much about trout fishing, but glad to see they like bream lures too!

Thats a great outing, and some terrific scenery out there, good the dog is enjoying these trips.
Yamane is a great trout colour, also try the iwama colour,
The new DR minnows from daiwa have pretty much all trout colours covered.
