Hi folks,
I've got a mate who has some silver perch in his dam, and lucky me is house sitting for him over Easter.
I know they'll take a worm under a float, but I'd like to try some lures for them (and so would my son - he loves lure fishing but hasn't managed his first fish on a lure yet) Does anyone have any suggestions for what lures I could try? So far I've tried mainly Tassie devils, but no luck so far. Would Celta's be worth a try? Soft plastics? Surface lures? Hard bodied minnows?
Or just stick to the bait?
Thanks
Neil.

Re: Silver Perch in a dam?
Silver perch will take lures & I have seen bigger fish taken on smaller stumpjumpers so maybe that could be worth a try. If there are silver perch in there then it probably has reddies as well so your a chance of catching them as well.

Vibrax spinner should do it! Vibes too
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

Re: Silver Perch in a dam?
I actually have a dam with them on my property and have done quite well on spinners, the larger spinners with wool or feathers on the hook work well

Thanks guys for the replies
Steve, there's no Reddies in there - there's nothing but Silvers. He used to have trout in there about 25 years ago but they would have died off by now. He put fingerlings in there quite a long while ago so the Silvers are pretty big now. I've caught about half a dozen on worms and I'd reckon they're at least 5lb or more.
Big Gav - by vibes do you mean the metal blades or vibes with a rattle in them?
Mazman - I have a couple of large spinners so I'll give them a go and see if we can get our first Silvers on a lure.
Thanks again for the info
