Winter Murray Cod ?
Anyone got an opinion on whether winter cod fishing on the Murray is any better the further downstream you go? i.e would there be any reason why the fishing would be better around say Albury/Wodonga compared to say Robinvale/Swan hill ?
Very interested in people's thoughts

Re: Winter Murray Cod ?
hey hendo ive been quite interested in winter cod myself.
I don't think it matters up or downstream I think it has more to do with if they r biting, what size fish are holding in said area and how much pressure the area gets.. in winter smaller cod will tend to shut down but big breeders need to feed for breeding season. they tend to move from there snag and more or less go hunting which leaves a lot more opportunity for anglers.
don't feel the need to get up at 5am in winter as best results will probably occur at the warmer parts of the day! bigger lures are generally more attractive as in winter they just wanna get there feeding overwith and would prefer a larger feed than several smaller ones.
hope it helps. winter cod is hard work but a lot more rewarding

We'll have to try and catch up one day to compare surface lure notes bm. Nothing beats it imo.barra mick wrote:Yes gav....at least 90 percent on lures at night these days.(mostly surface lures)BIG GAV wrote:never fished for them at night.. fishd into the night for nothing but eels.. do u use lures on majority f ur cod/night fishing mick?barra mick wrote:

Better at night. Early mornings or late arvo. But saying that, I've caught stuff all day. Just a bit slower.BIG GAV wrote:do u think surface are more productive all day or just first n last light?eslop wrote:We'll have to try and catch up one day to compare surface lure notes bm.
