Broken Wednesday

Post by davek » Wed Jan 25, 2017 10:30 pm

Once again Will (truedogz) and I headed off for a fish. This time we hit the Broken River and again Will's Floppy lure started proceedings with a Cod around 40cm.

He had a few fish boof this lure that didn't hook up, one around the 60-70cm mark he spied as it rolled over the lure. I had no luck on surface lures or stumpjumpers so just before dark I changed to bait and not that long after hooked a 55cm Cod.

Just a few small bites after that but all in all another successful outing, cheers davo

It was an interesting Arvo, Dave trying to get his first cod on the top but the conditions weren't great as the rain earlier in the week had made the water a bit discoloured. It was fairly difficult fishing.

I picked up my cod fairly early on with the floppy and then followed him along the river fishing the spots he had already covered. The problem was he was wasn't getting a hit but they were attacking my lure! As he said I had a beauty side swipe the floppy on the surface, then I was downstream of him and got boofed, then two casts later briefly hooked up. A bit later I was less than ten yards from Dave, where he had just fished and got a great boof but no hookup. He heard it all. :(

They need to start making floppy lures again, the last few trips they have caught cod when other lures have failed.

I was starting to feel real sorry for Dave, that he hadn't had a bite. Anyhow, Dave gave up on the lures and went over to bait. In the dark I heard all this splashing and thought he caught a carp. When I got there he had that cod.

After that I stopped feeling sorry for him!

Best Wishes

You guys have been smashing it lately.

Any idea why they stopped making the Floppy? Are there any similar lures on the market today?
