Australian bass on Australia day weekend

Post by Sebb » Sun Jan 27, 2019 9:25 pm

Went to Thompson river in search of Aussie Bass.
Saw a lot of carps, hooked a few, a lot of redfins too. Only small bass and didn't take surface lures. But oh well, was fun.
Beautiful scenery too.

Nice looking spot. And it's running. Drove over the Loddon today at Newstead, not running and not looking good either.

I never fished lower loddon, what fish are there?
I fished upper loddon around Bridgewater a while ago, few redfins. Some people caught yellowbelly.

Wow Seb85, looks like a great place you are right the scenery is nice. Redfin are always fun AND an Australian Bass for Australia Day Weekend, woohoo. A very good rival for the ol Lamb Chop BBQ.

You must of read the "Bugatti Book of Fishing" page 27 , , , , always leave something home , , , , at least you won't next time.

Was a nice day out, thanks for sharing.

Cheers, Bugatti

I think he meant the fish didn’t take surface lures.

Well done Seb the area is really coming of age thanks to the stocking efforts the last few years. Have been fishing a few of the streams in the area occasionally myself and there’s plenty of nice fish around a few more seasons are needed though.

Yeah, they're fairly small. Another couple years and they'll be in good size to catch.
Agree, thanks to the Aussie Bass stocking program. Well done fisheries.
