Mozzarella cheese (the preferred cheese) is oily and therefore would leach some of that oil.
It is used in the shape of a ball, hence the egg likeness.
Never thought of shrimp around it and that is also plausible
So oil & yellow ball (doesn't have to be cheese) = cod
