I've seen a lot bigger boofs - on youtube and in person. The fish apparently was about 75 cm long. Whats special about this footage is watching the cod up close sit there and ignore the lure. The same thing happened to me last month with a metery. In the case of the clip the water is fairly cloudy and that might have hidden the angler from the cod.

From what I have seen in hatcheries cod use their lateral line to locate their prey. In the cloudy conditions in the river in the video the lure coming along one side of the cod, with the bank close by, may have confused the cod. In this case only the left lateral line picked up the lure - think about trying to locate the distance of something with one eye closed. Once the lure crossed the front of the fish it could use both lateral lines and its eyes to triangulate its location.
