Freshwater spots for natives on Mornington Peninsula

Post by dave_tk » Fri Nov 08, 2013 3:56 pm

Hey guys, new to the mornington area. I was wondering if there were any freshwater lakes or rivers around to target bass, yellow bellys... seen a few reports out and about, would love to know of some of the spots. Message me if you want to keep them secret...

Geez you and me both brother, but no such luck on either count, apart from some private stocking that may be about you will have to travel to pick up those two species I am afraid.
The Mornington peninsula is a waste land for fresh water fishing.
Blue rock lake near willow grove has trout, redfin and bass on offer though, there is a limit on engine power 10hp and boat length, I think it is 4m.
Good luck though with your persuits

I want to get down to rosebud, there are two dams around there that are freshwater. Supposedly hold redfin and trout. I have seen main creek as well, runs into WPB past Flinders. Again, freshwater and does look fishable.

Don't know of any freshwater locations exactly, the closest I got, are the reeds to the right of stony point pier and Cannons creek near Warneet. I have seen estuary perch caught in both these locations. Good luck finding a freshwater spot

Why don't you just go and ask them at Peninsulatotaltackle and if they won't reveal the location then ask then what's the point of reporting it if they don't want anyone to know about it, doesn't seem to make sense to me

They wont and arent obliged to tell you even if you do ask

It's like all the reports and pics from Matha Cove. The whole Cove is privately owned and closed to fishing, yet they still post pics and reports from there.
